The aim was to develop a set of design ideas and principles to guide the transformation and development of a significant area of Toronto’s downtown. Here, a scheme is generated for the planned “Rail Deck Park” and the associated development sites to the north of the Front street, typically referred to as “The Well”. The argument here is to shift the discussion from “how to build a park” to a more strategic regiment of contextual influences, where the park is everywhere. The green spaces are scattered all across the site. They evolves from separate parcels of land in the site into an interconnected ecological network of green spaces and buildings.
